Brookfield Zoo July 2020

Hello, friends!

When is the last time you went to the zoo?

Growing up, I remember most clearly my mom yelling at everyone in the morning to wake up and then yelling again when we left a half hour later than she wanted. I remember peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with wet baby carrots in plastic baggies. Waterbottles, too!

Going to the Zoo as an adult is a whole different experience, and I might even say better. I've learned to appreciate the animals more and also the little things, for example a peacock feather lying loose in the woodchips, or a seal slipping out of the water to stare at me curiously.

But really, how adorable is that seal? He was like a puppy, staying there for a moment watching me, and right before he slipped away I clicked.

And whalah. I captured this gem.

Unfortunately the gorillas weren't visible this year, but maybe once people wear a mask we can see them indoors....

Blessings,

Katie
